Please Be on Guard Against the Norovirus

The norovirus is an infectious disease.  It can make you vomit, cause you to have stomach pain, or give you a fever.  Every year, the number of people with the norovirus starts to increase from October, and winter is the time when there are the most cases of the disease.

The norovirus can infect people by clinging to food, drink, or people’s hands, and passing from person to person.  For that reason, please consider the following important pieces of advice:

Wash your hand thoroughly, especially after coming in from outside, after using the bathroom, or before eating.

Cook food thoroughly.  Raw food can be dangerous.  Shellfish are a particularly big risk.

When cleaning the bathroom or a place where somebody has vomited, be sure to wear gloves and a mask.  Be sure to clean those places thoroughly and disinfect them.

Coronavirus and Influenza Cases Are Currently Increasing

Right now, both Coronavirus and influenza are spreading at an increased rate.  However, the means to prevent both illnesses is the same.  Please look over the following points:

1. Keep your hands clean.

*Using soap and water, be sure to wash your hands from the wrists to the tips of the fingers.

2.  Wear a mask.

* If you have any symptoms like you would get from a cold, please wear a mask.

* Wear your mask snugly so there are no gaps where it touches your face.

* When removing your mask, grab the strings and pull it off that way instead of touching the mask itself.

3. Keep your body strong and healthy.

* Exercise each day, even if only a little bit.

* Be sure to eat three meals a day.

4. Be careful that the air in your rooms doesn’t get too dry.

* You can keep your room from being too dry by doing things like hanging up a wet towel to dry.

In addition, you can get vaccinated against both Coronavirus and influenza.  If you get vaccinated, even if you do catch either disease, your symptoms won’t be as severe.
