The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.

Be Sure to Use Your Akashi “Support Tickets” by December 31st

“Akashi City Support Tickets” are tickets that can be used just like money.

These tickets can be used up until December 31st of this year.  However, please be aware that they can’t be used next year.  Also, some stores may close early at the end of the year for the holidays. 
So please be sure to use your tickets as soon as possible!

Also, if you have not yet received your Support Tickets, please go to the Akashi City Hall by December 28th and receive them there.  The place and time when you can get your tickets is as follows:

Place:  Akashi City Hall, West Building, 2nd Floor

Times:  Monday to Friday from 8:55 am until 5:40 pm.

*You will need proof of your identity to receive the tickets.  If you are going there to receive the tickets for someone else, then you will need both your own identification and the identification of the person you are receiving the tickets for.

Hospitals that are Open During the Year-End and New Year’s Holidays

During the winter holidays (from December 30th until January 3rd), some hospitals and clinics are closed.  However, if you look at the following chart, you can see what hospitals and clinics will remain open:

*Notes on medical terms:

Internal medicine: For colds, stomach pains, and that kind of medical problems.

              Pediatrics:  For children’s medical problems.

              Dental:  For problems with your teeth and gums.

              Orthopedics:  For pain in the bones or muscles.

Ophthalmology:  For problems with your eyes.

•If you have a fever, please be sure to call the hospital and inform them before you go.

•If you want to go to an ear, nose, and throat clinic, please contact the Night-time/Emergency Medical Clinic (their phone number is 078-937-8499, and their fax number is 078-937-8400) and consult with them.

•If you want to go to a surgical clinic, please contact the fire department (their phone number is 078-921-0119 and their fax number is 078-927-0119).

•The hospitals which will stay open during the holidays may change.  Please check for the most current information at the Akashi Medical Association website.

※If your child is injured or sick, you can consult someone even at night.  The Children’s Emergency Medical Hotline is 078-937-4199.  They are available to call every day from 8:30 pm until 11:30 pm.

Be aware of the dates for garbage collection at the end of December and the beginning of January

The days for garbage collection will be different for the end of December and the beginning of January.  Be especially careful about garbage collection on dates such as December 30th (Friday) and 31st (Saturday), as well as January 7th (Sunday).  Below is a list of days to put out your garbage during the winter holiday season:

•For those who live in the Eastern District (東部地区) of Akashi in an area that has burnable garbage collection on each Monday and Thursday:

Burnable Garbage:  Will be collected on 12/28 (Thursday), 12/30 (Saturday), 1/4 (Thursday), and 1/8 (Monday).

Non-burnable Garbage: Will be collected on 12/20 (Wednesday) and 1/7 (Sunday).

Recyclables (Plastic bottles, empty cans, empty bottles, etc.): Will be collected on 12/27 (Wednesday) and 1/10 (Wednesday)

•For those who live in the Eastern District (東部地区) of Akashi in an area that has burnable garbage collection on each Tuesday and Friday:

Burnable Garbage:  Will be collected on 12/29 (Friday), 12/31 (Sunday), 1/5 (Friday), and 1/9 (Tuesday)

Non-burnable Garbage: Will be collected on 12/20 (Wednesday) and 1/7 (Sunday)

Recyclables (Plastic bottles, empty cans, empty bottles, etc.): Will be collected on 12/27 (Wednesday) and 1/10 (Wednesday)
