Announcement of Family Skiing Class (in January and February of 2025)

There will be a skiing class for elementary school-aged children and their parents who are living in Akashi City.  Parents can join and learn alongside their children.  A skiing instructor will teach you, so feel free to join even if you aren’t good at skiing!

  • Dates:  There will be two different classes held on two separate weekends:

The 1st class will be on January 18th and 19th (Saturday and Sunday) of 2025.

The 2nd class will be on February 1st and 2nd (Saturday and Sunday) of 2025.

The participants will be staying overnight in a hotel.  The hotel is called the “Plateau Konohana.”

The maximum number of partipants for either the 1st or 2nd class is 45 people.  If too many people sign up for the class, then participants will be decided by a lottery.

  • Location:  The Hachi Highlands Ski Resort (Hyogo Prefecture, Yabu City).

Participants will be going to the ski resort by bus.  The bus will make several stops to pick up participants.  At the end of the trip, the bus will return to the same stops to drop everyone off.  The bus will be stopping to pick up participants at the Akashi City Hall, the bus stop at the Akashi Ginza Shopping Street (明石銀座商店街), JR Nishi Akashi Station, Okubo Station, and Uozumi Station.

  • The cost to join the class is 17,000 yen for adults and 13,500 yen for children.  The cost for riding the ski lift or renting ski equipment or clothes is not included in this fee, so you will have to pay for that separately.

  • Please help with recycling small electronics and oil used for frying (tempura oil, etc).

It is possible for you to recycle the small electronics that you have at home, such as computers, mobile phones, printers, etc.   You can also recycle frying oil such as the oil used to fry tempura.

Electronics have many different valuable metals in them, so they can be recycled to make new useful items.

Frying oil can be turned into fuel, and it is actually used as the fuel for the garbage trucks in Akashi City, among other things.

*To check the locations of the “collection boxes” where you can recycle electronics, as well as see other detailed information, please check the following QR code.
