Akashi City Will Be Providing Financial Support for People in Need

(1) Akashi City will be providing 100,000 yen as a “Support Payment to Help With Price Inflation.”

The “Support Payment to Help with Price Inflation” is money intended to help people who are in need of support because of trouble paying for goods that are increasing in price.

The households that match the criteria written below are eligible to receive the 100,000 yen payment:

Households that are registered as residents of Akashi City as of December 1^st, 2023, and only had to pay the per capita portion of their residence tax for 2023.

• The residence tax is called 住民税 (juuminzei), and is a tax that residents of an area pay each year.  The “per capita portion” of the residence tax is called 均等割 (kintouwari), and it is the flat tax that all residents must pay, regardless of their income. 

(2) Households that are Raising Children Will Be Provided with 50,000 Yen in Support Payments.

For households that qualify for (1) above and have children who are 18 years old or younger, they can receive a support payment of 50,000 yen for each child.

“Children 18 years old are younger” means children who were born on April 2^nd, 2005 or later, and were 18 years old or younger as of December 1^st, 2023.

In addition, low-income households that do not pay taxes can also qualify.  If a tax-exempt household has children 18 years old or younger, they can also receive the 50,000 yen per child support payments.  Households that are not paying taxes are those households that received the 70,000 yen “Benefit Payment for Tax-Exempt Households” (非課税世帯への給付金) from Akashi City this year.

(3) You May Need to Apply to Receive This Financial Support

Depending on your situation, you may or may not need to apply to receive your financial support payment.

1  In the following cases, you do not need to apply to receive a support payment:

Households that can receive the support payment will be receiving a letter from Akashi City.  This letter should be sent by February 29^th.

• If the letter from Akashi City has your bank account information for where you want to receive the payment already written down in it, then you do not need to apply. (In other words, it has the name and bank account number of the account holder)
• If you have already received the 70,000 yen “Benefit Payment for Tax-Exempt Households” (非課税世帯への給付金), then you do not need to apply.  The “Additional Support Payment for Households With Children” (子育て世帯への加算給付金) will be sent to that same bank account.

If there is a mistake with your bank account information, or if you want to use a different bank account, please check the letter you receive from Akashi City.  Contact information will be written in that letter.  If Akashi City does not receive any notification from you, then a payment will be made into that bank account in about the middle of March.

2  In the following case, you do need to apply to receive a support payment:

Households that need to make an application for the support payment will receive a “Confirmation Notice” (確認書) in a letter from Akashi City.  This letter should be sent by February 29^th. 

Please fill in the necessary information in the letter, then send it to Akashi City.  You are also able to make an application over the internet.  To confirm how to make your application, please check over the letter once it arrives.

Be absolutely sure to make your application by April 30^th.

If there are no errors in your application, then the payment should be sent to you in about 3 weeks.

Notifications About Coronavirus Vaccinations

Free Coronavirus vaccinations will only be available until March 31^st of 2024.

• If you are 12 years old or older and have not yet received your 1^st and 2^nd vaccinations, you can get them on the following days:
• ・1st:  Saturday, March 9th, 2024, from 9:00 am.
• ・2nd:  Saturday, March 30th, 2024, from 9:00 am.
• • The vaccinations will be given at the Akashi City Hospital.
