Be Careful of the Norovirus
The norovirus is a kind of virus that can cause a lot of different issues. It can cause stomach pain, vomiting, or fever, among other things.
- The norovirus commonly infects people by sticking to their hands or to food, then being moved to their mouth.
- Even a small amount of norovirus is enough to cause an infection, so it’s very easy for one sick person to infect many people.
- Norovirus is most common during the winter months.
- Using alcohol to disinfect is not very effective against the norovirus.
To avoid coming down with the norovirus, please try to follow the following advice:
- Be sure to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly. Be extra careful about washing your hands after you go outside, after you use the bathroom, or after you touch food.
- Be sure to cook food thoroughly. If there are still some uncooked or raw parts of food, that is one way to easily get sick. Raw shellfish is especially dangerous, so be sure to be extra careful.
- When cleaning around the toilet or where somebody has vomited, be sure to wear gloves and a mask. Be sure to use chemicals to disinfect the area, as well.
