Announcement About My Number Cards for Children
Starting on December 2nd, the My Number Card system will have the following changes:
1. Children who are less than one year old do not need a photo on their My Number Card. When using their My Number Card as a health insurance card, please use a password number (also known as a PIN number).
2. You will now be able to apply for a My Number Card for your infant at the same time as you register their birth (a birth registration is called a 出生届, or shusshou todoke). If you are interested in this application, please go to the Akashi City website. You can print out an application form there, then fill it out and send it in.

Has Your Child Received Their Measles and Rubella Vaccinations Yet?
Measles and rubella are both very contagious diseases. They can also potentially have very serious symptoms.
In order to protect your child from catching measles or rubella (and to prevent it spreading to their friends and the rest of your family), please be sure to get them vaccinated. There is a ticket (or in some cases a sticker) that you can use to get this vaccination. However, this ticket has an expiration date. Once the expiration date has passed, you will have to pay money to get the vaccination. It will cost from around 10,000 to 20,000 yen, so please be surel to have your child vaccinated before the expiration date!
Who is eligible:
•1st period: Children who are between 12 months to 24 months old.
•2nd period: Children who were born from April 2nd, 2018 to April 1st, 2019.
The vaccination ticket (or sticker) is valid until March 31st, 2025. It will expire on that date (and then you will have to pay money for the vaccination), so please be careful!

Traffic Accidents and Fires Are More Common in December and January. Please Be Careful!

In order to avoid traffic accidents, please consider the following advice:
•In the evening, if you are driving a car or riding a bicycle, be sure to turn on your
headlights/bike lights before it gets dark. Also be sure to drive/bike slowly.
•If you are walking at night, wear something reflective so that cars can see you more easily with their headlights.
•If you’ve been drinking alcohol, don’t drive. Don’t ride a bicycle, either.
In order to prevent fires, please consider the following advice:
•When you are cleaning, be sure to clean around electrical outlets as well so that they aren’t dirty or dusty.
•When adding oil to your oil heater, be sure that you have turned off the flame first.
