The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.

You Have a Chance to Buy Used Furniture
There is a store in Akashi which sells used furniture that people didn’t need or wanted to throw out. This furniture was “recycled” so that instead of being simply thrown away, it is available for you to buy! You can see what kind of furniture is available if you go to “Akashi Clean Center.”
Location: Akashi city, Okubo-cho, Matsukage 1131 Akashi Clean Center Administration Building 1st floor, Exhibition Hall
The exhibition hall will be open from Monday to Saturday (closed on Sundays) from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm.
If you find any furniture that you want to buy, please submit a purchase application. If more than one application is made for the same piece of furniture, then the winner will be decided by a lottery. Please check this site code for more details:

Please Help with Recycling Small Electronics, Frying Oil, etc
Please try and help with the recycling efforts going on in Akashi City. The city is collecting items that people are going to throw away, such as small electronics and frying oil (such as the oil used to fry tempura).
The “small electronics” category includes 48 different types of items, such as computers, cell phones, and printers. These electronics are made with valuable metals that can be recovered and re-used in new items.
Frying oil is re-used in various different ways. For instance, it is used in the garbage pickup trucks that collect garbage all around Akashi.
There are boxes where you can discard electronics that you want to recycle. To see where these recycling boxes are located, please check the Akashi City website.

There Will be a “World Festival Akashi” Event
The “World Festival Akashi” is an event where you can enjoy and experience different world cultures through dances, music, and other fun things!
This event will be run by Multi-cultural Center Manmaru Akashi. There will be stores at the event selling foreign tea and sweets as well. We’re sure that you’ll have a great time! No reservation is required, so please come by and enjoy the event with us.

Notifications About Coronavirus Vaccinations
Free Coronavirus vaccinations will only be available until March 31st of 2024.
To check and see who is eligible to get the vaccine, where to get the vaccine, and how to make a reservation, please check the Akashi City website. (If you check the QR code on the right, you can look at the Coronavirus page.)
- If you are 12 years old or older and have not yet received your 1st and 2nd vaccinations, you can get them on the following days:
- ・1st: Saturday, March 9th, 2024, from 9:00 am.
- ・2nd: Saturday, March 30th, 2024, from 9:00 am.
- The vaccinations will be given at the Akashi City Hospital.
