The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.

Akashi City is Selling Digital Gift Certificates
The gift certificates（１） are called “Akashi Tako Pay.” These certificates can be used with the PayPay（２） app on your smartphone.
- One set of gift certificates will cost 5,000 yen. However, this set of certificates will be able to purchase 6,000 yen worth of goods or services.
- One person can buy up to five sets of gift certificates.
- The sets of gift certificates can be bought by anyone who is living in Akashi and is 16 years old or older.
- Please check the QR code on the right to see what stores will allow you to use the Akashi Tako Pay gift certificates.
- You can apply to buy the gift certificates starting from October.
If you’re interested, you can apply to get the gift certificates through your PayPay app. If too many people apply, then a lottery will be held to decide who can buy the tickets.
Applications to buy the gift certificates are from Wednesday, October 1st until Thursday, October 30th.
The gift certificates can be used from Friday, October 31st until Wednesday, December 31st.

The “After-School Children’s Club” is Accepting Children Who Want to Use it Over the Winter Holidays
The “After-School Children’s Club” is a safe and welcoming place for elementary school children to spend their time after school is finished for the day. There is an After-School Children’s Club in every elementary school in Akashi. Children are welcome to use the After-School Children’s Club at their school, although they can only use the Club for the school that they attend.
Eligible Children: Any elementary school student whose parents are not at home during the day (due to work or other reasons).
Dates: The Club will be open from December 19th of 2025 until January 10th of 2026.
* The After-School Children’s Club will be closed on Sundays, national holidays, and from December 29th of 2025 to January 3rd of 2026.
Time: From 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
* If you need it, it is possible for your child to use the Club for extended hours from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (However, on Saturdays the Club will only be open until 5:00 p.m.).
If you want to make use of the After-School Children’s Club, please apply from October 1st until October 10th. If you would like more information, please read the “Application Guidelines” (募集要項, boshuu youkou). You can receive the Application Guidelines at the After-School Children’s Club.
If there are too many applications to join the Club, then they may not be able to accept everyone who wants to use it. We will inform you through the mail by early November whether or not your child will be able to join the After-School Children’s Club.
