The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.

Hospitals and Clinics That Will Stay Open from December 29^th to January 3rd

During the period from December 29^th to January 3^rd, some hospitals and clinics will close for the holidays.  To see a list of hospitals that will still be open to help you if you get injured or sick during that time, please check the chart located on the Easy Japanese (やさしい日本語) page.  Check that chart to see what hospital is open that you can go to, depending on what you need.

• If you have been injured and need surgery, then please call the fire department.  Their phone number is 078-921-0119.  Their fax number is 078-927-0119.
• If you want to go to an ear, nose, and throat clinic, please consult the Night-time/Emergency Medical Clinic.  Their phone number is 078-937-8499.  Their fax number is 078-937-8400.
• If you need to call an ambulance, please call the number 119.  You can also send a fax to the number 119 if you need to send a fax instead.

• From December 29^th to January 3^rd, many people will go to the hospitals and clinics listed in the chart on the Easy Japanese page.  If you can, please try to go to the hospital or clinic by December 28^th to avoid the large number of people.

• The hospitals that will stay open during the holidays may change.  Please check the Akashi Medical Association (明石市医師会) website for the most current information.

• If your child is sick or injured, you can call and consult someone even at night using the Children’s Emergency Medical Hotline.  Their phone number is 078-937-4199, and they are available to call every day of the week from 8:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
