The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.

The “After-School Children’s Club” is Now Accepting Children Who Want to Use It

The “After-School Children’s Club” (放課後児童クラブ) is a safe and welcoming place for elementary school children to spend their time after classes have ended.  The club is currently accepting children who want to use it from July 19th to August 28th of this year. 

Elementary school children can make use of this club if their parents won’t be at home during the day, due to work or other reasons.  The After-School Children’s Club is available at every elementary school in Akashi City.  Please note that children can only use the After-School Children’s Club that is located at their own school. 

The After-School Children’s Club is available to use from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.  However, it will be closed on Sundays, national holidays, and from August 13th to August 15th.  If you request it, your child can attend from as early as 8:00 am to as late as 7:00 pm.  However, on Saturdays the club will only be open until 5:00 pm, and children will not be able to stay any later than that.

Please apply to join the After-School Children’s Club from May 7th until May 24th.  Please read the “Application Guidelines” (募集要項) for details on how to apply.  You can receive the “Application Guideliness” directly at the After-School Children’s Club.

If too many people apply to join the club, then there may be some children who won’t be able to join.  You will receive a notification in the mail by June 30th informing you whether or not your child will be able to participate in the After-School Children’s Club for this year.
