The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.

Announcements in the August 1st Issue
You Can See a “Bonfire Noh” Performance in Akashi Park
“Noh” is a traditional Japanese performance. It includes both the serious and dramatic noh performance, as well as the more comedic kyogen performance. “Bonfire Noh” is a special kind of noh in which the stage is surrounded by bonfires that illuminate the performance and make for a more memorable experience.
Date and Time: Saturday, October 4th, from 6:15 p.m. (Admission for the event will start at 5:30 p.m.)
The performance will be cancelled if it rains.
Location: Akashi Park, West Lawn Open Space
Prices: Both reserved and open seating is available. You have to buy different tickets depending on what kind of seating you want.
Reserved Seating (S Seats): 7,000 yen.
Reserved Seating (A Seats): 5,000 yen
Open Seating (for Adults): 2,500 yen
Open Seating (High School Aged Children and Younger): 1,000 yen
*Please buy tickets before coming to the event. However, if you don’t buy tickets and show up to the performance on October 4th, you may still be able to buy tickets (unless they are sold out). If you buy tickets on the day of the event, the prices are as follows:
Reserved Seating (S Seats): 7,500 yen.
Reserved Seating (A Seats): 5,500 yen
Open Seating (for Adults): 3,000 yen
Open Seating (High School Aged Children and Younger): 1,000 yen

Also available at the Akashi Arts and International Exchange Foundation (Located at Higashinakanocho 6-1, in the ASPIA North building, 7th floor)
*In September, there will be a “How to Enjoy Noh Seminar”. This seminar will explain noh in an easy-to-understand way for people who have never seen a performance before, so that they can get the most enjoyment out of it.

Bicycle Theft is Becoming More and More Common
This information is from the Akashi Police Department (Their phone number is 078-922-0110).
According to the police, the number of bicycles being stolen is increasing. From January to May of this year, there have been 182 incidents where bicycles were stolen. That is about 1.4 times higher than the number of bicycle thefts that happened last year.
When you park your bicycle, be certain to lock it. If possible, it is better and safer to have two different locks on your bicycle.
