The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.
Announcements in the November 1st Issue
The “After-School Children’s Club” is Accepting Children Who Want to Join it from April of 2026
The “After-School Children’s Club” is a safe and welcoming place for elementary school children to spend their time after school is finished for the day. There is an After-School Children’s Club in every elementary school in Akashi. Children are welcome to use the After-School Children’s Club at their school, although they can only use the Club for the school that they attend. Currently, the After-School Children’s club is looking for applications from children who want to use it from April of 2026.
Eligible Children: Any elementary school student whose parents are not at home during the day (due to work or other reasons).
Dates: The Club will be available to use from April 1st of 2026 until March 31st of 2027.
* Holidays: The After-School Children’s Club will be closed on Sundays, national holidays, from August 13th to August 15th, and from December 29th of 2026 to January 3rd of 2027.
Times: On days with classes at school, the Club will be open from when classes end until 5:00 p.m.
On days without classes at school, the Club will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
* If you need it, it is possible for your child to use the Club for extended hours from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (However, on Saturdays the Club will only be open until 5:00 p.m.).
If you would like to apply to join the After-School Children’s Club, you must make an application from November 4th until November 21st.
*Be sure to fill out the application forms and prepare the necessary documents.
*Bring the necessary forms and documents to the After-School Children’s Club at the school your child attends.

You will be informed in the mail by February 28th whether or not your child can enter the After-School Children’s Club.
If you would like more information, please read the “Application Guidelines” (募集要項, boshuu youkou). You can receive the Application Guidelines at many different places, such as nursery schools, kindergartens, the Akashi Multi-Purpose Service Counter, or at civic centers located around Akashi.

Keep Yourself Safe from the Flu and Coronavirus!!
The flu and Coronavirus can both be passed from person to person through coughing or sneezing. They can also be transmitted if you touch the area around your eyes, mouth, or nose with a hand that has the virus on it. Therefore, please look at the following steps that you can follow to try and prevent getting sick:
- Keep your room ventilated regularly so that you get a new supply of fresh air.
- Wash your hands.
- Wear a mask.
- Get a vaccination.
Please take as many steps as you can to prevent yourself from catching the flu or Coronavirus!
