Please follow the rules when putting out the garbage

There are several rules you need to follow when putting out your garbage.  For instance, please be sure to put it out on the correct day.  Also be sure that you put it out at the correct place before 8:00 am on the garbage pickup day.

When throwing out microbeads (the extremely small plastic beads that are in some cushions and pillows), there is a risk that the bag could tear open, and the beads could spill out.  To avoid that, please follow the following rules:

1)Please use two garbage bags (one inside the other) instead of just one, for extra protection.

2)Please remove the air from inside the garbage bag.

3)Please put a label on the bag somewhere visible that says

“Beware: Contains Beads” (ビーズ注意)

*Note that if you are throwing the beads out as Oversized Garbage, you do not need to follow rules 1, 2, or 3.

When throwing out Oversized Garbage (garbage that does not fit in a 45 liter garbage bag or is heavier than 5 kilograms), please call the Oversized Garbage Center.  Their telephone number is 078-937-0937.  They are open Monday to Friday (including on public holidays) from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm.

For products that contain gas (such as gas canisters for portable stoves, or aerosol spray cans) please throw them out on the pickup day for Non-Burnable Garbage.

1)Please be careful that the cans are completely empty.  You don’t have to open a hole in them, just be sure that they are empty.

2)Please put them in a separate bag from the other garbage,

and write “Danger: Gas Canister” (ぼんべキケン) on the bag.

*Use a transparent or semi-transparent garbage bag.  It’s fine if the bag is smaller than 45 liters.

If there is any gas left in the canister, it may explode.  Please don’t throw it out with the other garbage, and instead please call the Waste Collection Management Division.

Ways to prevent the flu and Coronavirus

Both the flu and Coronavirus are frightening illnesses that can make you get a very high fever.  They can be spread from person to person by coughing or sneezing.  There are 3 things you should keep in mind if you want to prevent the flu and Coronavirus.  1) Wash your hands, 2) Wear a mask, and 3) Take care of your health (in other words, try to lead a healthy lifestyle).  All three points will be explained in more detail below.

1)Wash your hands

•Wash your hands thoroughly with soap.

•Be sure to completely wash your fingers, thumbs, and wrists.

2)Wear a mask

•When wearing a mask, be sure to cover both your nose and mouth.

•Wear a mask so there is no gap between the mask and the skin of your face.

•There may be some of the virus particles on the front of your mask.  So when you take off your mask, be sure to hold it by the strings on the sides.

3)Take care of your health

•Take your temperature every day, and make sure that you are feeling healthy and well.

•Eat a balanced diet.

•Get an appropriate amount of exercise.

•Be sure to get plenty of sleep.

In addition to those three points, you can also get vaccinated.  If you are vaccinated, then even if you get the virus, the symptoms won’t be as severe.  If possible, try to get vaccinated for the flu and Coronavirus.
