The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. Announcements in the May 15th Issue<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Akashi City is Providing Support for Families Who are Raising Children<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Akashi City is providing intensive support for families who are raising children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The support comes in a variety of ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1)           Medical expenses are free for children up to the 3rd year of high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2)           Daycare services are free starting from your 2nd child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3)           Diapers will be delivered to you every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4)           School lunch at junior high school are free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5)           Entry is free to the Akashi Municipal Planetarium, the Akashi Municipal Cultural Museum, the pool at the Akashi Beach Park, and the Family Playspace \u201cHarehare.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please Beware of Heatstroke<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

May is the start of hotter weather in Japan.  Because of that, some people suffer from heatstroke.  By sweating, your body protects itself against heatstroke.  However, in May, your body is still not used to the heat.  Therefore, you should exercise or take a bath to warm your body up so that you will begin to sweat.  Now is when you should start being careful about heatstroke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you suffer from heatstroke, you can have the following symptoms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Numbness in hands and feet<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Dizziness or lightheadedness when standing up<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Leg cramps<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moderate symptoms include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Feeling exhausted<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Nausea<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Headache<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Severe symptoms include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Confusion or loss of consciousness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Convulsions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you think you or someone you know is suffering from heatstroke, please follow the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Find somewhere cool and rest<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            Get hydrated (drink water) and replenish lost sodium<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022            If the person you are with stop responding to you, please call an ambulance immediately<\/p>\n\n\n\n
