We Are Looking for Interpreters and Translators
Manmaru Akashi is working so that people of different countries and cultures can live happily together.
But “the language barrier” can make this difficult. It can be very hard to understand someone if you speak different languages. That’s why Manmaru Akashi is working to help with both interpretation and translation.
We do interpretation work that is needed at city halls, schools, companies, or elsewhere in the community.
☆We are always willing to register new translators/interpreters. We’ll ask for your name, phone number, and the language that you can translate.
☆Registration is free.
☆If we need help with translation or interpretation, we’ll use your registered information to contact you and request your help.
(For languages that have many registered translators, we may not be able to give you any requests for long periods of time).
Requirements to Apply
For Native Japanese Speakers
You must meet one of the following criteria:
・Have passed level 2 or higher of the Japan Translation Federation (JTF) Translation Exam.
・Have received a score of 65 or higher on the Translator Qualifying Examination (TQE).
・Alternately, be proficient in a foreign language at a level equal to the two examples listed above.
・In addition, you must have basic computer skills and be able to use Microsoft Office, e-mail, the internet, etc.
For Non-Native Japanese Speakers
You must meet one of the following criteria:
・Have passed level 1 of the JLPT, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (for native speakers of English or Chinese).
・Have passed level 2 of the JLPT, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (for native speakers of a language other than English or Chinese)
・Alternately, be proficient in Japanese at a level equal to the two examples listed above.
・In addition, you must have basic computer skills and be able to use Microsoft Office, e-mail, the internet, etc.
The Application Process
First, please contact us. Someone at the office will explain the necessary documents to you.

Regardless of the results of the documents, we will contact you within 10 days.
Manmaru Akashi is unable to return the documents you send to us.
If the documents that you submit to us pass our criteria, then we will conduct an interview with you. Manmaru Akashi will contact you to tell you about the day of the interview.
If your interview with us passes our criteria, then we will sign a contract with you to do translation or interpretation.
