The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.

The “After-School Children’s Club” is Accepting Applications for This Upcoming Winter Vacation
The After-School Children’s Club is a safe and comfortable place where elementary school children who have finished classes for the day can spend their time after school. There is an “After-School Children’s Club (放課後児童クラブ, houkago jidou kurabu) at every elementary school in Akashi City. Please note that children are only able to the use the After-School Children’s Club at the school where they are enrolled as a student. Right now, each After-School Children’s Club in Akashi is awaiting applications for students who want to make use of it for the winter vacation period.
Eligible Children: Any elementary school student whose parents are not at home during the day (due to work or other reasons).
Dates: From December 20th of 2024 to January 11th of 2025.
* The After-School Children’s Club will be closed on Sundays, national holidays, and from December 29th of 2024 to January 3rd of 2025.
Time: From 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
* If you need it, it is possible for your child to use the club from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (However, on Saturdays the club will end at 5:00 regardless).
If you want to use the club, please apply to the “After-School Children’s Club” from October 1st until October 11th.
If you would like more information, please read the “Application Guidelines” (募集要項, boshuu youkou). You can receive the “Application Guidelines” directly from your local After-School Children’s Club.
If too many people apply for the club, then it may not be possible for everyone to join. You will be notified by mail in early November about whether or not your child will be able to participate in the After-School Children’s Club.
