The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.
Announcements in the May 1st Issue
The “After-School Children’s Club” is Accepting Children Who Want to Use it Over the Summer Holidays
The “After-School Children’s Club” (放課後児童クラブ) is a safe and welcoming place for elementary school children to spend their time after classes have ended. The club is currently accepting children who want to make use of the club from July 18th to August 28th of this year.
- Elementary school children whose parents are not home during the day (due to work or other reasons) can use the club.
- Children are only able to use the After-School Children’s Club for the elementary school where they are a student. (There is an After-School Children’s Club at every single elementary school in Akashi)
- The club can be used from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
- If you request if, your child can use the club from as early as 8:00 a.m. to as late as 7:00 p.m. However, on Saturdays the club will only be open until 5:00 p.m. and cannot stay open later.
- The After-School Children’s Club will be closed on Sundays, national holidays, and the period from August 13th to August 15th.
If you want to use the club, please apply during the period from May 7th to May 23rd. You can read the “Application Guidelines” (募集要項) for details on how to apply. Please get the “Application Guidelines” directly from the After-School Children’s Club that you want to use.
If too many people apply to join the club, then every child may not be able to join. You will receive a notification in the mail by June 30th telling you whether or not your child can participate in the After-School Children’s Club. For more details, please check the QR code on the right.

The Parking Garage in Front of Akashi Station Has Become Easier and More Convenient to Use
The multi-story parking garage in front of Akashi Station has become easier to use.
From April, the garage has become a little more spacious, and it can now be used 24 hours a day. Please feel free to use it whenever you need to, whether it is for work, shopping, or when you’re out having fun.
