The Akashi Newsletter (Koho Akashi) is a newsletter published by Akashi City. It releases on the 1st and the 15th of each month. There are many announcements in each issue of the Akashi Newsletter. We have selected five of the most important or useful announcements and translated them into English.
Announcements in the July 15th Issue
At an Upcoming Event, You Can Have a Fun Time on the Ocean Using a SUP Board or a Kayak!
You and your child can enjoy fun ocean activities!
Date and Time: Sunday, September 1st and Saturday, September 7th. There will be two sessions on each day, at the following times:
・A.M. Session: From 10:00 a.m. until noon
・P.M. Session: From 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Who is Eligible to Join: Any elementary school student living in Akashi, along with a family member. Please apply in teams of two (one child and one family member).
Number of Participants: The maximum number of participants for each session will be 20 (so 10 pairs). If too many people apply, then the participants will be chosen by a lottery.
Cost: 2,500 yen for 1 person.
You can apply by contacting the “Akashi City Youth Outdoor Recreation and Education Center” (明石市立少年自然の家) either by telephone, fax, or on their website. Please make sure to apply by the following dates:
•If you want to participate in the session on Sunday, September 1st, please apply by 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22nd.
•If you want to participate in the session on Saturday, September 7th, please apply by 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29th.

There Will Be Classes Where You Can Learn Basic Spanish and About the Culture of Peru!
There will be a series of classes where you can learn beginner-level Spanish. You will also learn about Peruvian culture.
Dates and Time: September 7th, 14th, 28th; October 12th, 19th, and 26th (every day is a Saturday). From 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Place: “With” Akashi (ウィズあかし), Aspia Akashi North Building, 7th and 8th floors.
Who is Eligible to Join: Anyone who is 18 years old or older and is studying Spanish for the first time (or hasn’t studied it for a while).
Number of Participants: The maximum number of participants is 12.
Cost: 3,000 yen.
